Dr. Yi-Chi Chen is a Professor of Economics at National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) in Tainan, Taiwan. His academic expertise lies in applied econometrics, international economics, Bayesian inference, and financial default forecasting. He earned his M.A. in Applied Economics from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and subsequently completed both his M.A. and Ph.D. in Economics at the University of Washington, Seattle, U.S.A.
From 2021 to 2024, Dr. Chen served as Chair of the Department of Economics at NCKU. In recognition of his scholarly and professional accomplishments, he was named a 2025 Distinguished Alumnus of Tamkang University in New Taipei City, Taiwan. His research integrates cutting-edge econometric methodologies with policy-relevant applications, particularly in the domains of Bayesian statistics, high-dimensional data analysis, and international economic linkages. His work has been published in top-tier journals such as the Journal of Banking and Finance, Journal of Forecasting, Quantitative Finance, Empirical Economics, Computational Statistics and Data Analysis, and the Taiwan Economic Review. He has contributed significantly to advancing understanding in areas such as credit risk modeling, economic growth dynamics, and the interplay between macroeconomic policy and financial markets. |
